2014 ThreeSixty Magazine Editorial Board

Our student-led editorial board is the driving force behind ThreeSixty’s award-winning quarterly magazine. Coupled with our executive board, these students brainstorm ideas for future publications and execute them through in-person interviews, careful background research and intense personal essay construction. Students meet once a month to hone their skills, with many receiving their first professional bylines through our publication.

MEET THE EDITORIAL BOARD

Badekemi “Kemi” Biladjetan is a senior at Lincoln International High School. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intro to Journalism Camp, she loves writing because it allows her to express her feelings easily. Kemi, a native of Togo who came to the United States two years ago, would love a career in international journalism and hopes to someday travel to Europe. Besides learning quickly, she loves to make people smile and help along the way.

Gabriel Blackburn is a senior at St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intermediate Journalism Camp, Gabe likes writing because he sees it as a creative outlet. Besides writing, he enjoys dancing, writing music and crafting short stories. In the future, Gabe hopes to be a performer, writer or teacher.

Katie Braman is a junior at St. Paul Academy and Summit School. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intermediate Journalism Camp, she enjoys watching Twins games at Target Field and would love to be a newspaper journalist. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would go to France or Italy. Katie is also a big baseball fan and has visited 18 different Major League ballparks across the country.

Zekriah Chaudhry is a homeschooled freshman who lives in Minneapolis. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intro to Journalism Camp, he would like to be a sportswriter in the future. Zekriah enjoys writing because he likes to be able to get ideas “out of his head.” Besides having a second-degree black belt in karate, Zekriah would love to travel to Singapore.

Patrick Commers is a junior at St. Paul Academy and Summit School. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intermediate Journalism Camp, he enjoys playing baseball, engaging in political discussion and writing for his school newspaper. His ideal future career would be a statistician or a pollster, and in summer of 2014, he served as an intern for Mike McFadden’s political campaign.

Dillan DeGross is a sophomore at FAIR School Downtown in Minneapolis. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2013 Intro to Journalism and 2014 Intermediate Journalism camps, Dillan is a returning editorial board member who has written about atheism, entomology and “the friend zone.” He likes writing because, after all the hard work put into it, he can be proud of his final draft.

Tyra Davis-Jenkins is a senior at Coon Rapids High School. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intro to Journalism Camp, she enjoys eating and shopping around the Twin Cities. What she likes about writing and photography is that she can be original and express her ideas freely. Tyra views herself as an introvert and has a passion for studying Middle Eastern conflicts, obesity and processed food.

Montana Fender is a senior at Como Park High School. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intro to Journalism Camp, she’s originally from Las Vegas and would love to work in public relations. She enjoys writing because it gives her the freedom to come up with her own ideas. If she could travel anywhere, Montana would love to vacation in Europe.

Daniela Garcia is a junior at Edina High School. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intermediate Journalism Camp,
Daniela loves writing because she can express herself and inform others through her words. Besides writing, Daniela likes playing soccer and staying active athletically. It’s her favorite outlet since she’s, in her own words, “super energetic!”

Saynab Gelle is a senior at Ubah Medical Academy. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intro to Journalism Camp, she loves expressing herself through writing. She also enjoys photography and would like to explore global issues through her lens someday. if she could go anywhere in the world, she would travel to Somalia.

Hafsa Guled is a recent graduate of Fridley High School. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intro to Journalism Camp, she likes being able to lose herself in words and create stories that are easily enjoyable. A huge music fan, she can usually be found at concerts, spending time in the library and watching movies. Fun fact: If you want to be Hafsa’s friend, you have to love chocolate.

Katia Kozachok is a junior at Perpich Arts High School. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2013 fall NewsTeam, Katia has written about religion and teen homelessness. She is interested in pursuing ideas about sexism, feminism and spoken word for future ThreeSixty pieces. Also, she proudly claims to be “pop culture illiterate,” so bring your reality TV and social media outrage conversations elsewhere.

Freddy McConnell is a senior at St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2012 Intro to Journalism and 2013 Intermediate Journalism camps, Freddy is one of the most senior members of our editorial board. He has written pieces about domestic violence, cultural identity and Circus Juventas, where he is also a performer. In his spare time, Freddy also enjoys writing poetry and songs.

Shay Radhakrishnan is a junior at Math and Science Academy. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2013 Intro to Journalism and 2014 Intermediate Journalism camps, Shay is a returning editorial board member who has written stories and essays on female empowerment. image issues and “the friend zone.” She likes bringing a spark to boring topics and is passionate about social justice. She also enjoys writing piano music, poetry, short stories and fanfiction.

Alexis Reaves is a junior at the Blake Upper School. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2013 Intro to Journalism Camp, Alexis has written stories on technology access and autistic students. An avid reader, she is studying in France during the first half of 2014. Her ideal future career would be a scholar in the humanities or a physics-related field.

Lana Rubinstein a senior at River Falls High School, is a 2013 graduate of ThreeSixty’s Intermediate Journalism Camp. A prolific poet, Lana stepped outside her writing comfort zone to contribute her first piece on how social media impacts real life interactions to ThreeSixty’s “Technology Issue.” She’s also written a personal essay on the adoption process and has contributed a reported story on the “R-word” campaign.

Nasro Shil is a senior at Ubah Medical Academy. A graduate of ThreeSixty’s 2014 Intro to Journalism Camp, she enjoys writing because it makes her feel free. Though Nasro considers herself a quiet person, she is also brave enough to try new things. If she could travel to anywhere in the world, she would go to Thailand.

Gabie Yang is a junior at Forest Lake Area High School. A 2013 graduate of ThreeSixty’s Introduction of Journalism Camp, Gabie has written stories about disavowing her Justin Bieber fandom and “the friend zone.” She likes writing because it allows her to be creative yet expressive, without having to talk in person. In her spare time, Gabie enjoys playing the violin and checking her social media feeds.
