Day Six: Crazy Impactful

The first day of journalism was amazing, and I cannot wait for the rest of the week!

We just finished our first week of ThreeSixty! I’m surprised how fast time goes. When we arrived last week, I was extremely nervous and I only knew two people who are attending this camp. As we got settled, I never knew that I could meet so many caring people and learn about their background. We worked on our essays and had the help of writing coaches. My writing coach was Janet Swiecichowski and she was very helpful. I went from an essay that had 1,000+ words to an essay that has 649 words. I was literally astonished because I don’t know how they can shorten an essay but still keep the main idea. We also met some ThreeSixty alumni, and it was nice to hear their experience and how it benefited them. At the end of last week, we had many that read their essays to everyone, and I think all the stories read were amazing. It's crazy how impactful each essay was in different ways. I even had the courage to read my essay!

We just finished our first day of journalism and had two guest speakers, Neal Justin and Ruben Rosario. I loved the stories Ruben told because it was very impactful. The first day of journalism was amazing, and I cannot wait for the rest of the week!

Today in camp, we touched on the basics of journalism and met Ruben Rosario, a seasoned journalist who has probably forgotten more about journalism than most journalists know. He had a lot of interesting stories to tell and clearly loves his job. We also met Neal Justin, an entertainment journalist who taught us about the fundamentals of networking. Overall, it was a pretty awesome day.
