Damilola (Dami) Gilbert, a senior at Robbinsdale Cooper High School, is a graduate of both ThreeSixty Journalism camps. She has written about her year-and-a-half in Nigeria — where her parents currently live — and interviewed Sondra Samuels of Northside Achievement Zone for ThreeSixty. Dami also served as an intern for our publication this past summer.

What do you like about writing? i like writing because you can do so many things with it. I like how you can use it to express your mind or to explain a story in detail.
What issues are important to you? Discrimination against culture, age, sex, religion, race; Education: ignorance, intelligence and knowledge, common sense, rational thought. Psychology: deviance, abuse, manipulation, superiority complex attitudes and domineering personalities like dictatorships
What is your ideal future career? Fashion designer/journalist or fashion editor. Something in broadcast journalism.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would go to Paris because i have always wanted to go there. I love the beautiful scenery.
What are your special talents? I’m very creative.
What do you do when you’re not at school? Hanging out with friends, sketching fashion designs, shopping and traveling.
